Default Mantra of Signets vs. Mantra of Inscriptions

I'm looking at putting together a signet-based build for my Mesmer, and I'm considering running either MoS or MoI.

MoS gives an armor boost and makes every signet a self-heal.
Good setup, but doesn't do anything about the loooong recharge.

MoI lessens the recharge, but that's all.

Does anyone have experience with these stances that leans toward one or the other?
I'd use both if they were enchantments rather than stances.

Mesmer signet builds are damage builds with a bit of support. A self heal is not damage or like Signet of Weariness or T-Signet. There are already special insignias for armor.

Post a build, otherwise we'd be making generalizations.

I wouldn't run Mantra of signets...

I know that for the keystone build I run, nothing special just a generic keystone signet build, it helps to have MoI to cut the recharge time of keystone signet. It helps on the other signets as well but since Keystone recharges all your damage signets and adds damage to them it's really the main benefactor. I don't think I would trade that for armor and self heal when I've got buffers and healers in my party that can do it better.

What about using Symbolic Posture for your stance? It will recharge Keystone signet in 4 seconds (@ 14 fast casting). Downside is the 20 sec recharge to Symbolic Posture itself. Anyone have experience with SP?

SP is a little trickier to use but it's generally better for human keystones. It allows you to compress your keystone activations closer than 10s and then it recharges during between-groups downtime. With some practice you can keystone off of an expiring SP, and then be albe to fire off another SP on your next keystone, and then hit keystone a third time for a focus of signet activations. And all in the fast casting attribute to boot.

Mantra of signets: lol tanking with a caster? Good joke. Never have this on your bar.

Symbolic Posture vs Mantra of inscriptions: MoI performs just as well if not better in all instances. 36% Faster recharge = 10s to recharge keystone (23s to use 3rd time). SP + keystone OTOH has a horribly 20s downtime on SP which weighs it down (21s to use 3rd time. Furthermore, the fact there there is a 3s gap between Keystone #1 and #2 makes it effectively useless, you want to spread out your keystones for maximum effect. Meanwhile, MoI also is nice enough to recharge all other signets faster in case any of them are faster than Keystone's downtime, letting you potentially use them twice per keystone.

The only thing that you could even pretend SP wins out on is the fact that its in fast casting instead of inspiration, but because Symbolic Celerity exists its not like 13 inspiration isn't the easiest decision in the world to make.

Conclusion: MoI unless you want your build to be bad.

would aggree frontline with caster would be tricky lol. Not what i meant though, you can get a degree of E/Mo prot functionality but with some offensive output using a keystone/SC based bar with infuse other and MoS to replace loss of health. I aggree that by hybriding 2 good builds together you lose something from both but as a component in a 7 hero team it has had its uses on occasion.

E/Mos use infuse well because they can spam it once per second, your mesmer won't have a chance of doing. Therefore its almost certainly better to take any other decent healing spell instead. Trying to find a single good spell to spend all that energy surplus on a signet character is a good idea, but choosing a spell that requires another skill change that nerfs the entire rest of your build (MoI is REALLY good) is a bad idea. If you just want the .25s huge heal aspect of infuse, Spirit Transfer is an immensely better choice.
